I was asked to deliver a 3D tugboat model in very limited amount of time for an ocean scene. I've modeled it in Maya and textured it in Substance Painter under 4 hours. This scene was rendered in Houdini using Mantra with PBR workflow.
Recently I have been doing some R&D in Maya in order to get high quality 3D models with a very low-poly count. Using different normal angles on edges helps a lot on hard surface models to look as if it was an high-poly model with details. Baking maps from high resolution assets to low polys take quite some time, this workflow I am working on is to minize the amount of baking and retopoly and have a faster way of producing content.
